Register Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Physician or Immunization Manager, seeks to protect the community from vaccine preventable disease by providing education and immunization services to community residents. Assesses the immunization status of clients, administers vaccines, and educates clients and caregivers about immunizations matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and evaluates the immunization status and needs of through the knowledge of current vaccine preventable disease,immunization guidelines, vaccination schedules, state, federal, and international requirements, and client medical history.
  • Educates clients and caregivers about the importance of immunization, following recommended immunization schedules, possible side effects of immunizations, and aftercare.
  • Draws up vaccines according to manufacturer's instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques and a system of double checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Completes appropriate client and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documented.
  • Works with diverse cultures including non-English speaking clients to overcome barriers to obtaining health care.
  • Participates in off-site Vaccination Clinics in the community including regularly scheduled and seasonal clinics.
  • Transports biologicals, sharps, and other required supplies to clinic sites in a safe and secure manner and administers vaccines.
  • Participates in community events such as health fairs to promote increased rates of immunization.
  • Ensures that client records are kept secure and confidential and maintained consistent with ESI Medical policies and procedures and HIPAA standards. Educates clients and families on their rights as related to privacy of medical information.
  • Be able to respond to an anaphylactic reaction when and if it occurs.

Employment Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: Vaccine administration.
  • Other Requirements: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered/Licensed Practical Nurse in the State they are performing clinics.

Administrative Clerk/Public Health Administator

General Summary:

Under the medical direction of the Immunization Manager, Physician, and Immunization Nurse provide assistance to the Nurses throughout their public health clinic experience. Knowledge of payment methods for Immunizations a must.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of all forms and the importance of their completion. Each consent form must be completed legibly.
  • Complete online training and quiz
  • Identify how each participant will pay prior to administering the immunization. All participants must complete the appropriate consent form. We cannot over emphasize the importance of completing all forms correctly in order for us to be reimbursed.
  • Fill out the Day end sheet
  • Approach the participant in a courteous manner and determine how the participant will pay for their immunization(s). This will help you to determine the proper consent form.
  • Understand the difference between Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Managed Medicare plans.
  • Complete the flu clinic day end sheet accurately
  • Dress professionally
